Day 11 – Farewell to Argentina and the Return Home

Today was a complete “transit” day. I had to check out of my hotel at noon and wait for 5:40 PM airport transfer before my return trip home. As on my departure, the flights were uneventful.

This was definitely the most strenuous tour I’ve ever taken, but overall, it was an unforgettable sightseeing, cruising and culinary experience in Patagonia.

Day 10 – San Antonio de Areco and Estancia La Bamba de Areco

Our last day of the tour was a wonderful day with great weather (warm with no wind). We went to the town of San Antonio del Areco and visited the Draghi Museum to learn more about the silversmith craft.

We then visited the Estancia La Bamba de Areco for a gaucho/horse demonstration followed by lunch.

After returning to our hotel, we had our farewell reception, then headed out for a tango show and dinner – wonderful entertainment with musicians (including a ukulele player), singers and dancers.

Day 9 – City Tour of Buenos Aires

I was able to sleep in a bit as we had a late start to our travel day. We left El Calafate and Patagonia and flew to Buenos Aires. We had a great city tour by bus before going on to our hotel. Buenos Aires is a beautiful city with about 15 million people and is called the “Paris of South America” for its European influences. There are many mansions, monuments and cultural attractions, purple jacanda trees, and the colorful Caminito, a street museum and traditional alley. Soccer is extremely popular, and the team colors appear everywhere.
